Bryce gets nicer to Juli over the course of the text and even begins to have feelings for Juli, who has had feelings for Bryce since the minute he met him. Juli has been chasing Bryce ever since and Bryce has been running away, but now their situations are flipped as Bryce chases Juli and Juli starts to think that Bryce isn't that great after all.
How does the character change over the course of the text in response to other characters/events: Bryce and Julianna haven’t been talking that much besides school but, even at school they didn’t talk as much. Bryce did feel really bad about what had happened at the sycamore tree. He wanted to talk to Julianna about it but, he didn’t want to seem like a wimp about apologizing for not going in the tree with her. Julianna didn’t show up at the bus stop or at school for a couple of days. Bryce found out the Julianna was riding her bike to school. Even on rainy days because she was so upset.
The character changes greatly over the course of the text. Bryce changes his view on Juli drastically, especially after he felt bad about Juli's favorite sycamore tree was cut down, and he himself threw away eggs that Juli gave to him for free. When Bryce starts to realize that Juli has been a very nice and affectionate person towards him, he changes his view of Juli and actually starts having feelings for her. On the other hand, Juli, that has had feelings for Bryce for a long time, starts hating him because she does not like how cruel he was to not climb up her favorite tree before it got cut down. Ever since that, she flips her thoughts on Bryce, and starts ignoring him.
Bryce starts to feel bad about how the constuction workers took away Juli's sycamore tree and wants to tell her that he's sorry. Bryce doesn't really get the chance to tell Juli because he dosn't want to look like a wimp and also because she keeps avoiding him every way possible. Juli doesn't take the bus in the morning. I think she did that because she didn't want to have to see the reamainings of the tree.
Juli changes her feelings towards Bryce after the eggs incident and what Bryce says about her family’s yard. Her feelings change because she quits talking to Bryce all together and is less clingy as well as less annoying. But Bryce slowly starts liking her now that he knows the whole story behind Juli Baker.

Since she has been working on her yard with Bryce’s grandpa, he has helped her realize that Bryce isn’t all that special, and she should look past his eyes and see what’s on Bryce’s inside. Once the Sycamore tree was cut down and Juli had an article in the paper, Bryce always found himself reading it. He didn’t know why, and he didn’t like it. He was developing feelings for the girl who he was once afraid to be around, while the girl realized what was truly good about Bryce.
